Sew-on hook-and-loop tape (Velcro) for durable fastening
The sew-on version is the preferred solution when the item is subject to frequent handling or some traction, as the stitching resists over time without the risk of detachment. It is also recommended if you need to wash your creation frequently.
For machine sewing, it is necessary to have a sewing machine and a needle suitable for piercing through the thickness. We also recommend using a Teflon foot for better gliding. Sew with a straight stitch (set around 2.5 mm) or a wide zigzag stitch.
Hand sewing is also possible. In this case, use a strong thread and make a solid stitch (overcast stitch, backstitch, or buttonhole stitch).
To sew the hook-and-loop tape, simply cut it to the correct length, allowing a 2 to 3 mm margin. Pin the two strips separately to the two locations where they are intended to meet (for example, one strip on the flap and the other on the body of the bag). Sew with a 2 mm margin.
Adhesive hook-and-loop tape (Velcro) for easy application
The self-adhesive version, on the other hand, is applied in a few seconds: simply remove the protective film and press the strip onto the desired surface.
This is the ideal option for rigid supports (such as cardboard, plastic, metal, or wood) or thick leather that cannot be put through a sewing machine.
We do not recommend sewing adhesive hook-and-loop tape with a sewing machine as the glue can clog the needle and block the machine's mechanism.
